Home remedies to get relief from sensitive teeth

Do you suffer from sensitive teeth? Home remedies to get  relief from sensitivity
Home remedies to get relief from sensitive teeth

Tooth sensitivity affects a lot of people. Eating an ice-cream or drinking a hot coffee becomes a big problem: it hurts a lot! It happens when the tooth enamel loses its mineralization, leaving it weak and worn out. Besides that, acid beverages and foods, cavities, and other things can worsen even more the situation, leaving your teeth sensitive. When the enamel gets eroded and dentin is exposed, things get uncomfortable. It is necessary to diagnose the cause to know what the best treatment is for your case. But, until you can go to your dentist, you can have some special care and do these 3 natural treatments at home to make things better:
Avoid acid beverages Soda, energy drinks, and acid juices like pineapple, plum, grape, peach, pomegranate, orange, etc. must be drank with a straw to avoid the direct contact of acids with teeth. Impeccable hygiene Brushing your teeth, flossing, and cleaning your tongue are important steps for a healthy mouth. As a consequence, you won't get cavities and your enamel will be safe.

How to brush your teeth

How to choose toothbrush

Choose your toothbrush with care Your toothbrush should be ultra-soft, rounded and have lots of bristles. Besides these tips, these natural medicines can also be used to treat tooth sensitivity, or any kind of toothache.  Clove is rich in oils and tannins that have analgesic and anti-septic properties, making it very efficient to alleviate toothache. In this case, just rub a drop of clove oil on the affected tooth 3 times a day for 3 days. Another option, very simple, is to chew on a clove. Mint tea rinse Menthol found on peppermint leaves is refreshing and alleviates pains, making it great for sensitive teeth. Make a tea with 1 dessert spoon of dried peppermint leaves and 5 oz. of boiling water. Let it sit for 15 minutes and strain. Once the tea is lukewarm, rinse your mouth 3 times a day. Turmeric toothpaste Turmeric is one of the main anti-inflammatories thanks to a compound called curcumin.  Make a paste mixing 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon of water. Apply on your teeth and gums and massage twice a day, once a week. Besides reducing the sensitivity of your teeth, it will also white them naturally. Amazing, isn't it? Did you know any of these natural medicines for sensitive teeth? Do a test and share your opinions with us.

Tips about how to prevent sensitivity from teeth whitening that's done in a dental office
The first thing is going to be that if you know you have an appointment to get your teeth whitened, try to brush and rinse with a desensitizing toothpaste and a desensitizing mouthwash. There's a lot out there on the market. Something like Sensodyne is great, or look for a toothpaste or a mouthwash that has an extra amount of fluoride in it. Okay, so after you have the whitening if you still have a little bit of sensitivity, it's okay. What you can do is make sure to avoid things that are really, really hot or really, really cold. Also avoid things that are really acidic like pineapples and oranges. These things will irritate your teeth more. I tell all my patients to make sure to avoid these things after they've had their teeth whitened. If you're still having sensitivity, that's okay. If you're able to take Advil, you can take two to three Advil and that should help you get through the sensitivity. It's also really important that you communicate any sensitivity or pain you may be experiencing with your dentist.
